Guide: How to Register via Indy

This guide is informational. It explains how the process works and helps you prepare for a conversation with a professional, or for filing on your own. It is not legal, tax, or accounting advice.

What you'll get

  • what registering via Indy actually looks like, step by step — and where it matches, and differs from, filing directly through the guichet unique
  • what to prepare in advance — the same documents as for the guichet unique
  • how much it costs for a micro-entreprise (free) and for a société (subscription plus mandatory state fees)
  • when the service actually saves time, and when it just duplicates something that’s already free

What Indy is, and what it has to do with registration

Indy is an accounting and invoicing service used by freelancers and small business owners in France: automated bookkeeping, declarations, a free business account. Alongside its main product, Indy offers a free business-registration tool — an entry point that later leads into their main subscription.

Indy: страница «Créez gratuitement votre entreprise» — выбор формы

The tool covers more than just micro-entreprise: you can pick SAS/SASU/SARL/EURL, SCI and LMNP, EI under BNC, or just a share-capital deposit.

How registering via Indy actually goes

Below are the real steps of Indy’s wizard, as it looked at the time this guide was written — nothing invented, and no screenshots of someone else’s account.

Step 1. Choosing the type of structure

Indy: выбор типа структуры — Société commerciale, Entreprise individuelle (включая micro-entreprise), LMNP, SCI

After the “Créer mon entreprise” button, you get the question “Quel type de structure voulez-vous créer?” with the options: Société commerciale (SAS, SASU, SARL, EURL), Entreprise individuelle (including micro-entreprise), LMNP, SCI, “Autre”, and “Je ne suis pas encore sûr”. For a reader who’s already been through the guide on registering via INPI, the option to pick is “Entreprise individuelle”.

Step 2. Your Indy account

Right after picking the structure comes the “Démarrez la création de votre entreprise” screen, where you create an account — via Google or with an email and password. This is the starting point of Indy’s own service, not formalites.entreprises.gouv.fr or procedures.inpi.fr — your data goes into Indy’s system first, and from there the service walks you through the rest of the form.

Step 3. The form — the same fields as on the guichet unique

What follows is the actual form, and here Indy isn’t inventing anything new: it’s the same sections covered in the guide on registering via INPI — identité, établissements, options fiscales — just in plain language instead of the original’s official wording, with prompts at every step. The document list is the same: proof of identity, proof of address, a déclaration sur l’honneur de non-condamnation.

Step 4. Signing and submitting

The finished file still ends up at the guichet unique either way — Indy doesn’t file documents through some parallel channel, it puts together and submits the same file through the same channel. The signature and the review statuses that follow are the ones covered in the INPI guide.

Step 5. After the SIRET — an account ready to invoice

As soon as you have your SIRET, the Indy account you set up in step 2 is already ready to go: you can start invoicing and bookkeeping without configuring anything from scratch. That’s the one step where Indy genuinely adds something over the official route — but it can’t get you a SIRET any faster: INPI’s, INSEE’s, and URSSAF’s timelines don’t depend on the middleman.

How much it costs

For a micro-entreprise, registering via Indy is free — matching what’s free anyway when filing directly through the guichet unique: the state doesn’t charge for the formality itself, and neither does Indy.

For day-to-day use after registering — invoicing, bookkeeping, declarations — Indy has a pricing grid specifically for micro-entrepreneurs, different from the one for sociétés. Three tiers:

  • Essentiel — €0/month: unlimited invoices and quotes, automated bookkeeping. No mandatory declarations (URSSAF, VAT) — you still have to file those yourself, the service doesn’t automate them.
  • Plus — from €9/month excl. VAT (€108/year billed annually): adds e-signatures on quotes, automatic payment reminders, revenue-threshold tracking, and personalised support. Still no mandatory declarations.
  • Premium — from €15/month excl. VAT (€180/year): adds automated mandatory declarations (URSSAF, VAT), the DAS2 declaration, help with your tax return, a revenue ledger, and priority support.

In other words, the free tier really is free for invoicing, but it doesn’t get you out of mandatory reporting — sooner or later, automating your declarations comes at a cost. The current pricing is on Indy’s micro-entrepreneur pricing page.

Prices and terms change, and Indy regularly runs promotions — for example, the first month free with every feature, regardless of tier. The figures in this guide are a snapshot from when it was written; check current terms and any active promotions directly on Indy’s site rather than treating this text as a fixed price list.

For sociétés (SASU, EURL, SARL, and similar), the picture is different: company creation through Indy is included for free, but only with a Premium subscription — starting at €49/month excl. VAT. That’s not a fee for the registration itself, it’s a subscription to their accounting service that comes bundled with help registering.

Indy: подписка Premium от 49 €/мес для обществ

Separate from the subscription are mandatory fees that don’t go to Indy at all, but to the state and to the legal-notice publisher — you pay these the same way whether you go through Indy or directly: the registry fee (frais de greffe) — around €61 for a single-member SASU or EURL, and the legal notice of incorporation (annonce légale) — around €124 excl. VAT for an EURL and around €142 excl. VAT for a SASU. All told, the mandatory costs for a société run around €200–250, regardless of who files the paperwork. Separately, if you deposit share capital without a Premium subscription, Indy charges €59 for that service.

When it's worth it

For a standard micro-entreprise registration — the one covered in the INPI guide — there’s not much point paying for Indy’s help: both routes are free, and the only difference is the interface. The service is worth it if you genuinely find plain-language wording easier to work with than the guichet unique’s terminology, and you’re planning to use Indy for bookkeeping and invoicing afterwards anyway — in that case, registering through them just saves you one extra step of re-entering your data.

For a société, the case is different: there’s objectively more paperwork (articles of association, capital, publishing the notice), and paid help makes more sense there — especially if you’re taking the Premium subscription anyway for automated bookkeeping, with registration help thrown in.

When to bring in a lawyer or accountant

No intermediary service, Indy included, replaces advice tailored to a non-standard case. It’s worth consulting an avocat or expert-comptable if: you’re torn between several legal forms and want to see the tax implications of each; the société has several founders with different shares; the activity is regulated and you need to know the entry requirements in advance. Otherwise, what’s covered in this guide and the earlier ones in the series is enough to go from idea to your first declarations on your own.

What happens next is covered separately: how the service itself works day to day in our guide to Indy as a tool, and what obligations arise towards the state, and by when, in our guide to micro-entrepreneur surprises.
